IRSP hosted 3 undergraduate research interns: Roberto Corona (California State University, Northridge), Erica Robinson (Tuskegee University) and Belinda Vicuna (University of New Mexico). Students lived on campus for eight weeks, were mentored by IRSP faculty and graduate trainees, and presented their work at a research conference hosted by the UCLA Graduate Division.

I am a research assistant in a neuropsychology lab working on a project involving dementia patients at CSUN, California State University, Northridge. Dementia and the neuropsychological patterns of performance in individuals with dementia and the level of caregiver burden is the main focus in this lab. Recently, this past weekend, I presented at the WPA in Portland, Oregon. My poster title was "The Relationship between Caregiver Burden and Psychological Distress in Caregivers of Alzheimer's patients".

IRSP faculty mentor: Prof. Jaana Juvonen

I am a third year psychology major with a minor in business administration. I am from sunny Los Angeles, California but I currently stay in Auburn, Alabama where I attend a relatively small private university called Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. I serve as Vice-President of the psychology club, which I have been a member of since my first year of college, and I am currently awaiting the outcome for the position of President for our chapter of Psi Chi National Honor Society. I am very creative, outgoing, dedicated, and easy to get along with.

Belinda Vicuna (University of New Mexico)
IRSP faculty mentor: Prof. Ben Karney

I am originally from Bolivia, but New Mexico has been home for most of my life. The University of New Mexico, founded in 1889, has given me such a rich and unforgettable college experience. At UNM, there is both academic challenge and a nurturing environment to learn and grow, which makes me proud to be a Lobo.
I have been fortunate enough to have the experience of carrying out an honors thesis, which combined Social and Positive Psychology by studying the relationship between personality and forgiveness. Working with a wonderful mentor and one of the forefronts for motivational interviewing, I have also gained some research experience in alcoholism and substance abuse research particularly within Alaskan Native/American Indian populations.
